Rediscovering Collagraph
I am rediscovering the joy of collagraph. In a way, its pretty close to building and sculpting – with an aspect of drawing too. But mainly, all about materials and the marks that can be made with them. It suits me down to the ground. I intend to start a collagraph club at Wivenhoe PrintworksContinue reading “Rediscovering Collagraph”
Sketchbook Sky Shanties
I have been working on a series of doodles, not quite certain where the impulse comes from but clearly it’s some kind of continuation of my new found fascination with architecture and home. It must also be born out of a need for escape which I might usually experience with travelling, visiting friends and generallyContinue reading “Sketchbook Sky Shanties”
Bridgerton Illustrations
A friend of mine has started writing a blog, and the first subject on her list to write about was Bridgerton. I have created some illustrations to go with her writing. I have been learning to use ProCreate and these are also the first illustrations I have ever created that are fully digital. To beContinue reading “Bridgerton Illustrations”
The High Street
I’m working on a lovely project, obviously connected to ‘The High Street’. Here I am sharing some of my sketchbook research. Allotment Shed
My latest imaginary allotment drawing. I’ve got a few of my allotment sketches (both imaginary and observed/drawn on location) on exhibition in Wivenhoe Bookshop during September. I’ll be honest, I’d really like to sell a few even though I am pretty attached to them! It’s no good just having your own work, in your ownContinue reading “Allotment Shed”
Allotment again
A sketchbook sketch, taken out of the sketchbook. I was struggling with the complexity of the scene but I used a combination of ‘blind’ contour drawing and using a slightly blunter pencil than usual. It seemed to work.
Allotment Sketches
Windy, sunny and rainy today. The light was constantly changing. I think I’ve managed to make the allotment look kind of threatening in this drawing. But I like it. A pumpkin patch. I have to say it was lovely drawing at the allotments today. I met a expert ‘allotmenteer’ called Fred, he’s had his patchContinue reading “Allotment Sketches”
Dahlias at the Allotment
Latest illustration based on an observed sketch drawn at Wivenhoe allotments. these will form part of an exhibition at Wivenhoe Bookshop in September, alongside a few quick observational sketches.
